She met Arman during a cultural seminar in Tehran. He was smart, quiet, and had the kind of eyes that seemed to know stories of the universe. They talked for hours that evening about books, stars, and dreams. Then he left — for Germany. "Just for a year," he promised.
One year turned into two. Then three.
The distance grew like a shadow between their hearts. Calls reduced. Messages dried. Laleh would sit on her balcony every Friday at 8 PM — their old video call time — with jasmine tea in hand, waiting. Sometimes he’d call. Mostly, he wouldn’t.
